This article introduces an intelligent system utilizing the public telephone network to remotely control the electrical home appliances and to give an alarm to its remote controller when necessary. The system uses the DTMF transceiver MT8880 as the decoding chip of double tone multi frequency telephone. The command kernel of this system is AT89C51 chip microcomputer.
