左宗棠在就任陕甘总督 ,督办新疆军务期间 ,对甘肃的生态环境建设与保护采取了一系列富有针对性的举措 ,主要涉及植树造林、兴修水利、引桑植棉、禁种罂粟等方面 ,并取得了明显的实绩实效 ,为甘肃近代经济的开发和发展创造了较好的社会条件和生态环境。研究总结左宗棠的环保思想及政绩 。

During his term of the governor of Gansu and Shanxi,besides his busy and strenous military work,Zuo zong tang put forward simple and effectire measures of environmental protection,which include afforesting,building irrigation works,introducing silk worm raising and cotton growing,forbidding opium poppy planting,etc.He carried out the measures conscientiously and made a great achievements ahich created a better social and ecological environment in Gansu.His ideas of environmental practice in his official career are precious experience that can be used as reference for current western development.
