The author presents a review of the history of the modification of the tittle of ISO/TC 171 and points out that this represents precisely the mainstream of this technology and its advancement trends.The new tittle proposed for ISO/TC 171 emphasizes the concept of information and diminishes the concept of imaging,just for satisfying the needs of the updated advancement of this technology.The paper points out that the present tittle of China National Standardization Organization/Technical Committee for Documentary Imaging Technology presently should keep unmodified,and emphasizes the importance of promoting actively the application of digital imaging technique and network technique in the documentary imaging activities in china.
