摘要
处于转型期中国的大学,在社会发生剧烈变革、"断裂"成为基本特征的背景下,在研究和发表日益成为大学主要行为特征而各个专业系科分工成为主要结构特征的前提下,存在着一种巨大的张力,即如何在日常的科研和教学工作中实现教育在传统上的基本功能——并不仅仅是传授知识和从事研究而是要实现"教以成人"这一东西方传统教育的核心要求,这也是现代早期西方学院的主要诉求。通过对于北京大学社会学系所代表的中国社会学传统的梳理,本文发现,传统意义上"为己"的社会关怀与责任感、对于经典的传承与相应的教育、扎实的社会调查、兼容并包的治学态度和文化自觉的意识,是将研究、教育和育人紧密结合在一起并且回应上述问题与焦虑的途径。
Under the background of drastic changes of the society in which fracture becomes its basic characteristic, there exist a great tension in universities in modern China. Also influenced by the trend in universities that research and publication gradually became their major academic activities, this tension is manifested in the discontinuity between the current state of Chinese universities as summarized above and the essential appeal of early modern "colleges" in the western world,i. e. to educate so as to raise human beings.This paper,based on a research of Chinese disciplinary tradition of Sociology as exemplified by the Sociology Department at Peking University, tries to answer to this tension. This paper finds out that China’s traditional understanding of social responsibility offers a solution to this tension. Such understanding,which inherited the classics and its related education,solid fieldworks,and an all-embracing attitude toward studies and consciousness of China’s cultural,is able to bridge study,education, and the cultivation of human beings in academia.
