摘要
爱伦·坡小说中富含的游戏元素常见于情节、语言乃至于创作哲学等诸多层面。本文以荷兰文化史学家赫伊津哈和法国社会学家罗杰·卡约的游戏学说为理论观照,首先梳理整合坡在作品中尤为热衷描述的博弈游戏,分析它们围绕作者与(理想)读者的关联所体现的叙事学模型;其次,聚焦于19世纪30年代曾引发广泛关注的"梅伊策尔的象棋游戏机",一方面探讨那一机械装置与坡的创作哲学之间发生的隐喻性契合,另一方面围绕坡对此发明的关注,分析其"揭秘"的创作动机与杜宾的博弈美学之间存在的有机关联;最后,本文立足于文学与哲学就"语言游戏"所产生的对话可能,探求"游戏规则"对坡的创作所施予的语义增殖功效。
Edgar Allan Poe's short stories are imbued with games ranging from plots to language and even to the philosophy.of composition.By having recourse to the theories of games from Johan Huizinga and Roger Caillois,this article first and foremost sorts out the competitive games as Poe is most infatuated with,and analyzes their narratological model in light of the author-(ideal)reader nexus.Secondly,this article focuses on the legendary"Maezel's Automaton Chess-Player,"studying on one hand the allegorical association of this mechanical equipment with Poe's philosophy of composition,and on the other,the identity between Dupin's game aesthetics and Poe's motivation of revealing the trick of the alleged"pure mechanism." Last but not least,this article ushers in a latent literature-and-philosophy dialogue in terms of the concept of"language game"so as to expound the effect of semantic proliferation imposed by rules of games upon Poe's making of literature.
