Three planes of calligraphic aesthetics

书法审美大致可以分为"形""意""气"三层境界。"形"是书法审美最为直接的对象,也是书法"物质层面"的审美;"意"是指书法作品中流露出来的书家创作情态,包含下笔前的理性构思与随兴挥洒的灵感自然流露;"气"是指书法艺术作品中体现出来的气质精神,是书家综合素养与审美境界的体现。但这三个审美层面是相互关联的,在书法审美中不能截然分开。

Calligraphic aesthetics can be roughly divided into form,meaning and air.Form is the first direct object or materialistic aesthetics.Meaning expresses the mood and inspiration of a calligrapher in the works.And air speaks for the spirit or temperament of calligraphic works as art.The three aesthetic realms of comprehensive accomplishment of a calligrapher are closely interrelated.
