The American Factors in the Peaceful Resolution of the Three-District Issue

在反抗盛世才和国民党反动统治的过程中,1944年中国新疆爆发了三区革命。美国对此予以密切关注,但对于苏联是否介入其中却一直捉摸不定。与此同时,由于在《雅尔塔协定》中以牺牲中国的利益为代价对苏联作出了"过分"让步,美国希望通过"补偿"中国来实现战后美苏在远东的均势,新疆问题正好成为了美苏交易的筹码。于是,美国将苏联协助中国和平解决三区问题作为中国承认《雅尔塔协定》的条件之一,苏联对此表示同意。在中国、美国、苏联的共同努力下,三区问题终于得以和平解决。

In fighting against the reactionary rule of Sheng Shi-cai and Kuomintang, the Three-District Revolution broke out in 1944 in Xinjiang. The United States paid close attention to it, but was uncertain as to whether the Revolution was supported by the Soviet Union. At the same time, the United States wanted to make up for China for its giving in too much to the Soviet Union in the sacrifice of China in the Yalta Agreement. The Xinjiang Issue was a good bargaining dice. So the United States regarded the Soviet Union’s assistance to China in the pacification of the Three-District Issue as a condition for China to admit the Yalta Agreement, which was accepted by the Soviet Union.With the joint effort of China, the United States and the Soviet Union, the Three-District Issue was solved in a peaceful way at last.
