After 40 years of reform and opening up, China has built the world’s largest integrated transportation system and become the world’s leading transportation country. Transportation investment has become the engine that drives China’s rapid economic growth. The improvement of passenger and cargo transportation efficiency has promoted China’s economic and social development. This paper summarizes the development logic of China’s transportation from multiple dimensions, including strategic positioning, theoretical exploration, government role, market mechanism, infrastructure construction, urban and rural transportation development, and national macro-control measures. The development of transportation has laid a solid foundation for China to build a modernized economic system with high quality development, and provides a strategic premise for China’s all-round opening and international competitiveness.
