This paper elaborates the symbolic characteristics of film and television costumes from three aspects: style,color and fabric,and chooses the best costume design Oscar winners "Chicago"and "Beauty Queen"to deeply analyze the film and television costume symbols,and summarizes the inspiration of costume symbols in Os- car-winning works to Chinese film costumes.The article shows that with the development of the times and the progress of material and spiritual civilization,clothing gradually develops from shelter from the beginning to a sym- bol of identity,rank,race,personality and aesthetic taste.As one of the important carriers of artistic expression, clothing plays an important role in the film and television industry.The character,mood and inner world of the characters can be expressed through the clothing fabric,color and style,thus enriching the connotation of the film.
