21世纪美国左翼运动处于衰势当中,这是经济、政治和意识形态三方面因素综合作用的结果。金融危机加剧了中下层白人与少数族裔以及移民之间的冲突,使左翼运动容易走向分裂。政府不信任倾向的增强令左翼运动允诺的"大政府"难以吸引广泛的支持。在金融危机和政府不信任的双重影响下,美国左翼运动又在意识形态上陷入两难选择的困境。21世纪美国左翼运动能否复兴,一方面取决于客观的经济政治环境,另一方面取决于是否能找到一种具有广泛吸引力的意识形态。

The decline of American left-wing movement in the 21st century is the result of the comprehensive action of economic,political and ideological factors.The financial crisis has intensified the confl.ict.between the middle and lower classes of the white and ethnic minorities as well as immigrants,making it easy for leftwing movements towards division.Considering the intensified Government Distrust,the "big government" promised by the left-wing movement has difficulties in attracting broad support.Under the dual influence of the financial crisis and the distrust in government,the American left-wingmovement were trapped in the dilemma of ideology.Whether the American left-wing movement inthe 21st century can revivedepends on the objective economic and political environment,and on whether it will find an ideology which demonstrates wide appeal.
