The postmodern historical novel Ragtime shows the ambiguity of narrative,the indeterminacy of a text and the intertextuality of different texts,thus realizing the mockery of the grand narrative of traditional history and the deep description of reality by writing fictional and real history.In addition,the possibility of writing history in a literary way is reflected in the intertextuality between texts and social history and texts and ragtime music.The novel re-examines the relationship between literature and history,juxtaposes fiction and reality,and realizes the parody of historical narrative in postmodern narratives.
