The Historical Context of the Development of Yangba Road

作为古蜀道之一的洋巴道,萌芽于秦汉时代,初步开通于魏晋南北朝时期。在唐代,洋巴道曾作为驿道使用,在各朝中地位可谓最高,贡杨妃荔枝途经此道更使其名气大增。两宋时期洋巴道为汉中地区与川东地区民间往来的商旅要道,南宋以后它还在抗金抗蒙方面发挥了一定作用。明清时期其战略地位凸显、军事功能突出,成了兵家必争的军旅孔道。清中期以来,随着秦巴山区的开发,洋巴道也走向了近现代的繁荣。在翻越大巴山的诸条蜀道中,它的地位虽次于金牛道和米仓道,但在川陕二省交通中也发挥着重要作用。

Yangba Road,one of the ancient Shu Road,sprouted in the Qin and Han Dynasties and initially opened in the Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties.In the Tang Dynasty,Yangba Road was once used as a post road. It occupied the highest position in all dynasties. Yang Guifei’s litchi road made it more famous.During the Song Dynasty,Yangba Road was the main road for business and travel between Hanzhong and Eastern Sichuan. After the Southern Song Dynasty,it also played a certain role in resisting the Jin Dynasty and Mongolia. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,its strategic position and military function were prominent,and it became a military channel that the military strategists had to contend for. Since the mid-Qing Dynasty,along with the development of Qinba Mountains,Yangba Road has also moved towards modern prosperity. Among all the Shu Road crossing Daba Mountain,its position is inferior to Jiange Road and Micang Road,but it still plays an important role in the transportation of Sichuan and Shanxi provinces.
