The Cultural Reconstruction from the Rational Perspective——On the Cultural Connotation of Chen Zhifan's Prose

陈之藩是台湾著名散文家,是科学与人文之间的双栖者。他的散文从乡愁情感出发又能超出其外;秉承多元的文化视角,他对中国传统文化进行理性地批判,明辨优劣;他也不盲从于所谓的西方现代文化,而是实事求是,指出其人文修养的不足;他反思科技文明的发达,警醒现代人正视其后果。他的散文言之有物、有的放矢,散发着思想的光芒,无形中对中国传统文化的现代转换做出了独到的贡献。

Chen Zhifan was a famous prose writer and also an outstanding scientist of Taiwan. His prose was based on nostalgia, but beyond its limitation. From the multicultlural perspective, he took an critical view of traditional Chinese culture and modern Western culture, pointing out its inadequacies of humanism. Reflecting on the Western scientific and technological civilization, he warned the modern man of its consequences. His prose was substantial, oriented and thoughtprovoking, making an important contribution to the modern transition of traditional Chinese culture.
