Summary and Analysis of Reasons for the Decline of Ancient Chinese Capitals

基于对中国古都衰落已有研究成果的整理分析,发现政治、经济、自然环境、文化和城市竞争等五个因素是导致古代都城衰落的主要原因。进一步采用量化统计方法分析各个因素,发现古都衰弱的影响具体表现为:政治因素对古都衰落有较大影响,经济因素对古都衰落的影响稍次,而自然地理条件恶化及其导致的交通不便,对古都衰落具有长久性的影响;文化和民俗对古都的衰落的影响较小;城市竞争加速了古都的衰落。

Based on the analysis of the research findings,five factors contributed to the decline of the ancient Chinese capitals,namely,politics,economy,natural environment,culture and city competition,they are the main reasons for the decline of the ancient chinese capitals.Further,the quantitative statistical method is used to analyze various factors,their influence on the decline of ancient capitals showed that the political factor had greater influence,the economic factors came second,the deterioration of the natural geographical conditions and the traffic inconvenience had a long and enduring effect,the culture and folklore has a little effect,it was urban competition that accelerated the decline of ancient capitals.
