"The Color of Class:The Educational Strategies of the Black Middle Classes"is a book providing an exploration of the struggles and strategies of the British Black middle class parents in the process of interacting with the school system in the United Kingdom.The research is under the lenses of intersectional analysis by mainly employing the Pierre Bourdieu's theory and Critical Race Theory.By identifying the complexities of intersection of race and class,this book partly answers the questions of why the Black Caribbean students have low academic attainment and how the reality of racism causes the Black middle class'educational disadvantage.This book has a profound analysis of the "invisible" racism in everyday life in the schooling system in the UK,and draws a conclusion that the middle class status of the Black people plays a less important role while facing with racism.Racism has been existing since the first generation of the Black people settled down in the society and it passes on to the Black people's descendants,which makes going to school a difficult experience.With the growing demand of the middle class'children's education in China,this book is a good reference to the prevention of discrimination inside and outside of the Chinese school system.
