吐鲁番文书中的“双名单称”问题

The problem of "double naming" (two names with single title) in Turpan inscriptions

本文从南北朝正史入手,重点谈吐鲁番文书中的"双名单称"问题,认为:南北朝正史记高昌王麹坚又作麹子坚,麹坚是麹子坚的"双名单称"。吐鲁番文书所见"双名单称"存在两种情况:一种是单称前名,一种是单称后名。单称前名出现较少,单称后名出现较多。这应与前名多作"辈字"可以忽视,后名多为"实名"不能省略有关。但吐鲁番文书多有残缺,彼此间又没有必然的联系,很难遽尔断定此"单称"即是彼"双名"。因此,具体情况还得具体分析。

Based on the official historical records of Northern and Southern Dynasties this article focuses on the issue of"double-name"appeared in the Turfan inscription.It is believed that the name of"Qu-jian",a Gaochang King in historical record of the Southern and Northern Dynasties is also named"Qu-zi-jian".Here the"Qu-jian"is the"double name with single title of Qu-zi-jian.Two types of"double naming"has been revealed in Turfan inscriptions:one is the use the first as single,and another is to use the second as single.Using the first as single tends to be less and using the second appears more.This should be considered that the first is indication of generations so used less,but the second usually is the"real names"and cannot be omitted.However,there are many Turpan inscriptions damaged and become incomplete.It is difficult to conclude that this"single name"is the"double name"of others.Therefore,the double naming phenomena appeared in the inscription need to be analyzed individually.I hope this article can provide the reference for the further study on Turpan inscriptions.
