This paper reviews the main thread of Chinese architectural coatings’ development in 40 years of reform and opening up, proceeds from systems, technologies, markets, reasons and enterprises for elaboration and summarizes standards. The future belongs to architectural coatings enterprises able to grasp the directions and laws of development, gradually improve and constantly innovate to meet users’ need for architectural decoration consumption upgrading.
