Strategies and Methods: Sorting Out the Issues of National Cultural Heritage and New Sinology

整理国故是新文化运动的倡导者所寻找到的与"五四"新文化相关的另一链条,其一端连接着新文化运动,另一端连接着科学的方法和精神。整理国故成为新国学产生的坚实的基础,新国学是在整理国故过程中提出并形成的,因而,新国学与"五四"新文化运动既存在某些关联,而又是不同特质的两种文化体系。惟其如此,发生在"五四"新文化运动之后的几场文化论战,往往是错位的,各自从不同角度对新国学的建立阐述自己的理解。各种不同声音、不同观点相互交锋,整理国故与反整理国故、整理国故与保存国粹等问题,概念与方法、范畴与认识等问题,使本来就容易混淆的问题,在反思与转向、辨析与论争中逐渐失去整理国故讨论的意义,国学失去了应有的逻辑,新国学也在各种声音中被湮没。

Sorting out national cultural heritage is another chain that the advocators of the New Cultural Movement tried to find to be connected to the "May 4 th"New Cultural Movement,with New Cultural Movement at one end and the scientific method and spirit at the other. Sorting out the national heritage has become a solid foundation for the emergence of the new sinology,which was proposed and formed in the process of sorting out the national cultural heritage. Therefore,the new sinology and the "May4 th"New Cultural Movement had something in common while these two systems had very different characteristics. As such,the cultural debates that took place after the "May 4 th " New Cultural Movement were often improperly arranged,each explaining its own understanding of the establishment of the modern sinology. In the process of introspection and change of direction,differentiation and analysis and debates,issues such as the confrontation among different voices and among different points of views,the concept for sorting out the national cultural heritage or against it,sorting out national cultural heritage or preserving national quintessence, concepts and methods, category and understanding made the originally and easily confusing situation gradually losing the significance of the discussion of sorting out national heritage. The new sinology lost the meaning of sorting out national cultural heritage;the traditional sinology lost its logic;the new sinology was neglected in such chaos.
