An Investigation on Yu Kai,a Literati in the Qing Dynasty

清代江苏泰州文人俞楷与著名回儒学者刘智往来密切,通过作序、推介、点订、校雠等具体活动参与了刘智多部著述的出版。通过考述俞楷的生平,特别是其宗教信仰、文化活动与创作风貌,既有助于我们更多地了解这位古代文士,也可以借此管窥其时中国江南文人丰富多元的文化环境与独立自信的精神风貌。

Yu Kai was a literati who lived in Taizhou,Jiangsu in the Qing Dynasty. As a close friend of the famous Hui Confucian Liu Zhi,Yu Kai had actually involved in the publication of Liu’s many compositions in the ways like writing preface,introduction,rectification,etc. An investigation on Yu Kai’s life,especially his religious faith,cultural activities and writing style,helps us to have a better understanding of this literati,and even the richness of cultural atmosphere,the spirituality of independence and confidence of Jiangnan literati at that time.
