清代循化厅土地契约文书保存反映着康熙至光绪年间土地交易最为真实的历史状况。清代循化厅土地交易主要源于土地使用不便和家庭缺少用度,因而导致以绝卖为主的土地交易类型,呈现出土地交易不够频繁,小规模分散交易的特点。受山多地少等自然环境的影响,清代循化厅土地交易主要是在村级土地市场进行,且宗法色彩更为浓厚。与其他地区相比,循化厅土地交易价格的剧烈涨落,则反映了清朝多元边疆民族社会的频繁失序。
