地级威海市成立13年间,经济和社会各项事业都得到了快速发展,整体实力显著增强,城乡面貌发生了巨大变化。2000年,全市GDP达到560.9亿元,比上年增长12％,13年来年均增幅达到18.7％。预计2001年GDP达到628亿元,比上年增长12％,人均GDP达到2.5万元。在山东省17个地级市中,经济总量由建市初期的第13位上升到第7位,并进入了全国综合经济实力50强和投资硬环境40优城市之列。
Over the past 13 years since Weihai was incorporated as a prefecturat-level city, in terms of economy and social, undertakings, it has rapldly developed. Its power has been remarkably strengthened and great changes have taken place in both the urban and rural areas. Over the past ten-odd years, Weihal has constantly adhered to regarding economic construc tion as core of development, opening as core of economic constructon and inviting investment as core of opening. By adopting diversifiled modes to Invlte investment, Welhal has sped up its economic intemationalization. The implementation of inviting investment speeds up Weihai's economic internationalization and exerts deep and far influence on its economic and social development.
