The wideband electromagnetic coupling method used in PD test on XLPE poower cables is studied. The Rogovski coil with HF magnetic core is used as current transducer to detect PD on cables. Some factors affecting the transfer characteristics of Rogovski coil are discussed. Laboratory experiments showed that it is feasible to use this method to detect PD in XLPE power cables.
