村民自治因具有竞争、参与和自主机制而在维护农村社会稳定中发挥着重要作用。它能最大限度地减少非制度化参与 ,增强农村资源动员能力 ,避免危害农民利益的不良决策 ,重建社区内在规范体系 ,有效约束村组干部不良行为 。

Villagers' self-governance was brought forward with the necessity of maintaining the stabilization in rural areas, and it plays an important role in maintaining the stabilization in rural areas due to its characteristics of competition and participation in the self-regulation mechanism. Villager's self-governance maximally reduces non-system participation, increases the capability to mobilize village resources, avoids ineffective decisions, which may do harm to peasants' interests, reconstructs a self-regulation system in rural communities,facilitates the stability of the rural society by restraining some village leaders'misbehaviors, and effectively eliminates over-taxation by township officials.
