在中国近代思想文化史上 ,冯桂芬是个过渡性的人物。他继承并发展了鸦片战争时期地主阶级改革派的经世思想 ,又是近代中国资产阶级改良主义运动的思想前驱 ,他的本辅思想是近代“中体西用”

In the history of modern Chinese thought and culture, Feng Guifen was a feudalism capitalism transitional figure. He carried forward and developed the affair managing thougnt held by the reformists of the landlord class in the period of Opium War; meanwhile, he was also an ideologist pioneer in the reformism movement held by modern Chinese bourgeois. His essence auxiliary thought, i.e. Chinese Confucianism be essence and Western science and technology be auxiliary, was the origin of the modern Chinese thought of “Confucianism be body and western science and technology be tool”.
