This paper reviews the properties, crystal structure, preparation of powder, sintering technique and application of Si 3N 4 ceramic. Factors that affect the microstructure and mechanic properties of Si 3N 4 ceramic are introduced mainly. Some difficulties at present and developing directions are offered.
