Through 20 years of fast development, China has been a major production base of house-
hold electrical appliances worldwide. But the Chinese market in 2001 showed that it is becoming
increasingly difficult for the industry to further tap the market. The industry has entered a new
stage following China's accession to the WTO. Facing the new situation and new industrial
trends, the industry, in order to challenge itself, must speed up adjustment, improve technology
and make further progress.
