试谈沙译《水浒传》中英雄绰号的英译

On Shapiro's Translation of the Marsh Heroes' Nicknames

本文以沙博理的英译《水浒传》为例 ,从跨文化交际的角度研究《水浒传》英雄绰号的翻译。作者分析了英雄绰号所具有的强烈的艺术感染力和深厚的民族渊源 ,讨论了文化的民族性与翻译的关系 ,指出翻译水浒英雄绰号时 ,译者既要准确理解、足额转换信息内容 ,又要着力突出其民族文化特色。

This paper disscusses,from a cross-cultural perspective,the problems in franslation of the Marsh heroes' nicknames in Shapiro's English version of Outlaws of the Marsh.The writer first analyzes the strong artistic appeal and the profound national origins of the Marsh heroes' nicknames, and then examines the relationship between the nationality of culture and translation before offering some tips on the translation of the Marsh heroes' nicknames into English,i.e.the translator should attach enough attention to an accurate understanding of the target names and a sufficient transfer of the information content and of the underlying distinctive cultural features.
