This paper tries to outline the approaches to evaluation of research in main developed countries, discuss the superiorites and limitations of the approaches when applied in China and point out that, as a vital management tool, the approaches for sci tech evaluation in developed countries is feasible in China. What we need to do is to create a fine policy and a culture environment for them.
