Detection of hidden defects of underwater projects by the ground penetrating radar

The working mechanism of the ground penetrating radar (GPR) is presented. The hidden defects detecting results of Jimei Barrage, Guangdong Province, by use of the GPR technique show that the technique can effectively detect hidden defects of underwater projects, such as collapse, break of a concrete plate, caves in foundation and scouring pits.
