For promoting the strength of concrete so as to meet the need of developing civil engineering towards large-span and heavy load and high-rise, the authors discuss the effect of rising strength level of concrete on its structural behaviour; and analyse technical and economical benefit of rising strength level of concrete by comparing its strength-price ratio; and suggest to adopt concrete with higher strength so as to promote technical progress and sustainable development of building trade.
