升船机是三峡工程设计建造的永久通航建筑设施。主要是为客货船、特种船舶及小吨位船舶提供快速通道 ,满足多种过坝船舶的要求 ,是克服或减少制约提高永久船闸通过能力的不利因素 。

Shiplift is the permanent navigation structural facility designed and constructed for the Three-Gorges project, mainly providing quick passage for passenger-cargo vessels, special vessels and light-tonnage ships, and satisfying the demands of various kinds of dam-crossing vessels. It is also an essential matter for rectifying or deminishing the unfavorable factors restricting increase of lock capacity and further optimizing the dispatch.
