Objective To investigate the reabsorbable bone plates degradation speeds with the time change, and observe the neighboring tissue reaction to the reabsorbable bone plate. Methods In the experiment group, using the reabsorbable bone plates and bolts which were made of chitin & PCL,embedding in the right tibia middle piece of rabbit. The follow-up times were two ,four, six, eight, and 12 weeks after operation. Before putting the animal to death. As for the compare group, the reabsorbable bone plates and bolts were instead of metals bone plates and bolts. The follow-up times were four, eight weeks. Then estimated the biologic absorb rate (BAR),and observed local tissue reaction to the bone plate with slice. Results The reabsorbable bone plates and bolts that were made of Chitin and PCL would degrade more and more with time pass in vivo, but the relationship was on tlinearity. The BAR was 4.36% by the 4 weeks,7.35% by the 6 weeks,12.8% by the 12 weeks. In the experiment group, histology showed that there were obviously inflammation two weeks after operation, and more obviously by the 6 weeks, then weakens by degrees, but inflammation still could be observed. At the same time, osteoanagenesis reaction could be observed. In the compare group, there couldn't observe the same phenomenon. Conclusion The reabsorbable bone plates and bolts that were made of Chitin and PCL could be reabsorb, but it would cause obviously sterile inflammatory reaction in some cases. At the same time,it could induce the osteoanagenesis reaction.
