隐士文化是知识分子作为士大夫的一个阶层 ,其内圣外王人生哲学在政治与文化的紧张中一种动态的显现 ,也是知识分子在处理自我人格冲突时的一种文化取向。唐代政治上结束了魏晋南北朝长达三百多年的分裂割据 ,旧有社会阶层被打破 ,知识分子纷纷以不同方式走上仕途。

The Hermit Culture embodies dynamically the living philosophy inner sage, external king of the intellectuals, who, as one stratum of scholar officials, were in dilemma of politics and culture. It was also some kind of cultural adoption of the intellectuals dealing with their self character conflicts. The Tang Dynasty terminated the state of division and separation of over three hundred years during Wei and Jin Dynasties, Southern and Northern Dynasties. The old social stratums were broken up, and the intellectuals took the official career in different ways one after another.
