The reduction of 2 and 3 ferrocenylformyl 1,1 dipropylferrocenes by LiAlH 4 gave the relevant dipropylferrocenylmethanols.The two hydroxyl compounds reacted with BF 3 in CH 2Cl 2 to give the relevant dipropyldiferroceylmethyl carbocations.The ions reacted with amine RNH 2 directly without separation from the solution and gave N substituted compounds in high yields.The structures of these new compounds were characterized by elementary analysis,IR and 1HNMR.
