Lu Wen's poetry covers a wide range of topics, expressing a variety of themes: Based on real life of the poet's time, it sympathizes with the ordinary people, eulogizes patriotism, exposes the corruption of the ruling classes, and conveys the depression of worthy people at their unfulfilled ambition, etc. It is remarkable indeed for its strong realistic spirit, deep retrospection and saddened expression of inner feelings. Lu's poetry paves the way for the Bai Xin Yu Fu movement in poetry of Yuan Dynasty.
