Some Consideration about Metaphor and Art Imagination

比喻是人与自然的一种直捷的对应,是“人的本质力量的对象化”的一个生动而简捷的方式,是艺术想象与形象思维的一个重要方式。中国的文学传统之一,就是不仅仅把比喻当做修辞的手段,而当作对生活本质的理解。理解了比喻,理解了联类无穷的艺术想象之奥秘,同时也就理解了象征、夸张、借代、比兴、点染等等众多的艺术手段,它们并不是各自孤立的存在,而有着各种内在的联系,比喻正好可以帮助我们举其一而反其三。

Metaphor is a direct corresponding between people and ature, a vivid but short cut to make human essential strength objectified, and an important mode of art imagination and means of images. One of the traditions in Chinese literature in not only taking metaphor as a method of figures of speech but also an understanding to life essence. If metaphor is understood, the limitless mysteries of art imagination are olishing are understood as well. They dont exist independently, but with internal relations, whereas metaphor can just help us draw inference about other cases from it.
