文化缺省及其在翻译中的重构

Cultural Default and its Reconstruction in Translation

文化缺省指的是同一文化背景的人在交际过程中被双方作为共享而省略的文化背景知识。文化缺省的存在是妨碍跨文化言语交际顺利进行的障碍。译者作为文化交流的使者有责任在翻译中对之进行重构 ,以帮助译文读者建立语义连贯从而更好的理解原语作品的内涵 ,了解异域文化。音译加注、直译加注、释义和归化的翻译手段可以起到重构文化缺省中的作用 。

The existence of cultural default, which is defined as absence of some cultural background knowledge shared by the author and his/her reader, makes it a task for the translator to reconstruct the default for the TL readers in translation. The reconstruction of cultural default helps the TL readers to build coherence in the text so that they can appropriately understand the text and culture conveyed in it. This paper discusses the roles annotation, paraphrase and adaptation play in the reconstruction and also makes a brief comment on advantages as well as disadvantages of them respectively.
