This year is the 45 th anniversary of the enterprise of science and technology information in China. Information science education is the important part of the enterprise. Here and now,it is much meaning to review and view the course,status quo and direction of the development of information science education.This paper reviews and summarizes the three development phases and characteristics of information science education together with the reform and opening in China,analyses the current situation of information science education and the undergraduate course,graduate course and adult education of information management specialty in detail and forecasts the development trends from six aspects of information science education in the 21 st century.
