Mud removing of settling ponds had a direct and important influence on their operation effect. The automatic mud removing system controlled by PLC solved the problem of manual mud removing, i.e. the mud removing did not conduct in time and thoroughly. An introduction was made on transformation experience of the automatic mud removing system of the settling pond with inclined pipes of the Water Supply and Drainage Plant of Maanshan Iron &Steel Co.
