当前我国高校图书馆正面临着图书数量急剧增长 ,电子出版物检索功能倍增 ,网络化进展迅速等富有挑战性和竞争性的文化现象。高校图书馆面对挑战 ,应采取政府和社会双重扶持的办法 ,建立文献资源保障体系、弘扬文化积累的价值优势、发挥公益事业的形象效用、严格遵守读者至上的办馆宗旨、恪守基本免费的服务原则、全面履行教育信息职能以及不断扩大科学技术含量等对策。这对促进高校图书馆事业的发展将产生积极的。

At present, the number of books is increasing dramatically, the search function of electronics is intensifying and the network is developing rapidly. These are the challenges encountered by the libraries of Chinese higher learning institutions. Facing these challenges, the libraries should try their best to get support from the government as well as from the society and build up the system of literature resources. The libraries should give full play to the value of cultural accumulation and to the image utility of public benefits. The libraries should observe the goal of putting the readers in the utmost important position with basic service free of charge. At last the libraries should carry out their function of educational information and expand the quato of science and technology in the function. All these countermeasures will produce far influence on the development of the libraries in higher learning institutions.
