English and Chinese Neologies of the 20th Century: Their Causes in Vogue and Comparative Study on Mutual Translation

现代英语中新词语的出现与政治、经济、文化及科学技术等领域内的一桩桩大事有关。汉语新词其主要来源一是本族语本身 ,包括旧词新义、流行语等 ;二是外来新词语 ,而外来词大多来自英语。在英汉新词对译时 ,要注意不能望文生义 ,既要保持原“民族特色” ,又要有效传递文化信息。

World-shaking changes have taken place all over the world at the 20th century, which resulted in increasing the great number of English and Chinese neologies. The author, summarizing their causes in vogue of English and Chinese neologies of the 20th century and make a comparative study of their mutual translation, has a wish for improving the cultural links between the two languages and playing the role of a bridge with the development of Chinese modern economy.
