A corrosive attack lug/top bar area was an important reason that caused the failure of the negative plates of valve regulated lead/acid batteries.The phenomenon and electrochemical mechanism of NGBC of VRLA batteries were discribed.As aremedy,a good top bar/plate group technique for welding(includes COS),reduced remarkably the risk of any corrosion in this part of battery.
