坚定的废奴主义者——林肯

Abraham Lincoln——A Firm Abolitionist

史学界曾对林肯是否为废奴主义者进行过比较热烈的争论,形成了三种观点:一、林肯是废奴主义者;二、林肯开始不是废奴主义者,只是反对奴隶制,后来才逐步转变为废奴主义者;三、林肯完全不是废奴主义者,甚至还反对废奴主义。笔者认为,林肯不仅一开始就把废除奴隶制作为目标,而且坚定不移地以实现此目标为己任,有步骤地开展斗争,并最终领导美国人民彻底消灭了奴隶制。

There are three views about whether Abraham Lincoln was an abolitionist or not: 1. He was an abolitionist. 2. He was only an objector of slavery in the beginning and gradually became an abolitionist later. 3. He was no abolitionist and he was even against the abolition of slavery. The writer of this article believes that Abraham Lincoln was a firm abolitionist, who aimed at abolishing the slavery to start with, took gradual steps and eventually achieved the goal successfully.
