With the p adic decomposition of variables over Z 4, the algebraic structure of 4 valued generalized Bent function is studied in this paper. It also gives a necessary and sufficient condition for the 4 valued logical function in one indeterminate to be the 4 valued generalized Bent function. A kind of recursive construction method of the 4 valued generalized Bent function is derived by the use of a decomposition formula of Chrestenson spectrum.
