Biodiesel is a renewable energy, which is friendly to human, vehicle and environment. This article shows the important contributions that the biodiesel industrial development could make in China to protecting environment, enhancing oil security and promoting rural economic and social development. The current status of biodiesel industrial development in the world and in China are presented. Based on analysis, the potentials are evaluated and the strategies are proposed for developing China’s biodiesel industry in the next ten years. Finally, policy recommendations for developing China’s biodiesel industry are made.
