近几十年来,语言学发展非常迅速,已成为一门跨学科的边缘性学科,国外语言学在理论建设方面无论从深度和广度上都有所发展,而我国以往的语言学著作均为80年代出版,新的研究成果无法反映出来.曹务堂教授等的新著<语言学概论>及时填补了这方面的缺憾.本文对该书的新义之处逐章进行了评介.

This paper presents a review of the new work An Introduction to Linguistics , written by Professor Cao Wutang et al. In the recent ten years, the science of linguistics has developed so fast that it has already become an interdisciplinary field of study. And in the aspect of theoretical construction, liguistics abroad has developed both profoundly and widely. However, in our country, many works on liguistics came out during the 80s so some new achievements in the scientific research could not be included in. The book An Introduction to Linguistics has offered a remedy for the defect. This paper, therefore, presents a review of the new ideas of each chapter.
