The rapily changing coastal lines of Pearl River Estuary, Hong Kong and Macao have been observed recent years. Measurements of the coastal land growth are difficult to achieve in time by the traditional manner. This study focused on monitoring varying shorelines by using state-of-the-art remote sensing technology. The multi-temporal Landsat satellite data were used. Neural net classification was used to classify the lands growth due to shoreline changes in the different periods. Land reclamation and new airports in Hong Kong and Macao and related constructions were the most significant shoreling changes.
