Hydrothermal-electrochemical technology, which is one of the important soft solution processings (SSP), was introduced. The basic concepts and characteristics of the technology were discussed, the applications and advantages of the technology for preparing advanced ceramic thin films were outlined, and the prospects of the technology in advanced inorganic materials were forecasted.
