A simple method for the preparation of gluco-oligosaccharides having (1→6) main chain with (1→3) side chains and (1→3) main chain with (1→6) side chains has been invented. The core fragments of Lentinan polysaccharide have been synthesized first in the world. The anti-tumour and immune enhance activities of the oligosaccharides are comparable with the commercial Lentinan. Large scale synthesis of the phytoalexin-elicitor hexaglucosides has been achieved at very low cost using the patented method.
