In this article, the present situation of improved technique for material's surface quality and properties, the technical classification, application and various processes, such as thermal spraying, CVD, PVD, surface bonding, surface alloying, sputtering, gas phase process, liquid phase process, ion implantation etc. in Japan were introduced.
